The School Resource Officer concept includes
placing an experienced law enforcer professional in high schools, middle
schools, and elementary schools with the following goals:
1. to
create and maintain safe, secure, and orderly learning environments for
students, teachers, and staff
2. to
establish a trusting channel of communication with students, parents, and
teachers
3.
to serve as a positive role model for students in regard to instilling
good moral standards, good judgment and discretion, respect for other
students, and a sincere concern for the school community
4. to
promote awareness of the law in order to enable students to become better
informed and effective citizens, while empowering them with the knowledge
of law enforcement efforts and obligations as well as the consequences of
violating the law
5. to
serve as a confidential source of counseling for students and parents in
regard to problems they face and provide information on community
resources available to them. |
