In 1998, Waller ISD entered an agreement with the Harris County
Sheriff's Department for four deputies to serve the district and the
community as School Resource Officers.
Today,
five Waller ISD
School Resource Officers,
like all School Resource Officers across the nation, are valuable
resources for the school community - serving as law-enforcement
officers, law-related counselors, and law-related presenters. As law
enforcers, their primary goal is to keep the peace. As law-related
counselors, they provide resource guidance to students, parents,
teachers, and staff while also serving as a link to support services
both inside and outside the schools. As law-related presenters, they
share special law enforcement expertise through student and staff
presentations.
But probably even more significant than these three responsibilities,
School Resource Officers serve as positive role models for students on
the campus and at extracurricular activities.
Since the arrival of the Waller ISD officers, discipline problems have
decreased and standardized Crisis Management procedures have been
implemented across the district.
The Waller ISD School Resource Officers program is made possible by a
combination of federal grants and local funding.
Waller ISD salutes our School Resource Officers!
