About Wayne C. Schultz Middle School
Waller Independent School District

Schultz Middle School is the fifth and sixth grade campus in Waller ISD. Carnegie-and Project CRISS- trained teachers are on staff at SMS, and the faculty as a whole has been recognized as a leader in technology integration and the use of distance learning strategies. SMS students take a rigorous course of studies in core academic subjects and participate in a balanced fine arts program that includes theater arts, music, and band. Students have the opportunity to enhance reading skills using the Read 180 Program, and an extensive After-School Program offers academic and enrichment activities. In 2003, a district-wide R.O.P.E.S. (Reality Oriented Physical Experience Service) was added at the SMS campus.

In 2005-2006, a new DCR – Depth, Complexity, and Rigor – class was added at SMS. Teachers participating in this program supplement and enhance learning taking place in other core classes. The class format is similar to that of Gifted and Talented classes, and projects and models are standard.
