Classroom guidance
Various topics are presented to students depending on need of students and recommendations by teachers. Possible topics include: study skills, time management, test taking strategies, stress management, goal setting, careers, self-esteem, peer relationships, conflict resolution, teamwork, communication, stereotyping, problem solving, decision making, responsibility, cliques, values, peer pressure, family, alcohol, drugs, tobacco.

Communication with parents, students, faculty, and staff
Counselor’s Corner - Counselors are available in the cafeteria during lunches once a week to answer students’ questions, give information, or set up appointments
Display guidance materials in the hallway
Counseling website with resources for parents, students, faculty and staff

Group counseling
   Students can be referred by teachers or parents by completing a student assistance referral form
   Beta Tau Mu - a program for male students that focuses on fostering a successful transition into productive young men and building positive relationships (Facilitator: D. Edgerson)
    Express Yourself - a group to help learn social skills and how to meet new friends (Facilitator: C. V. Smith and H. McLean
    Building Healthy Relationships

a boys and girls group that focuses on strengthening students’ social and anger management skills (Facilitator: Focusing Families)
   Girl Power - a social and support group for girls during lunch (Facilitator: C. V. Smith and H. McLean
   Good Grief - a support group for students who have lost a parent or sibling (Facilitator: C. V. Smith and H. McLean)                                  
   Red Hots - a program that focuses on helping students handle their anger, make healthy choices, and resist negative peer pressure (Facilitator: C. V. Smith and H. McLean
    Splits - a support group for students dealing with divorce (Facilitator: C. V. Smith and H. McLean
   Building Blocks  - a study skills and support group for academic needs (Facilitator: C. V. Smith and H. McLean
