- What percentage of
WHS students participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular
activities? Over 60%.
- Is SHW the same
architectural firm that built the new high school? No.
Field Store Elementary School and the simultaneous expansion of Schultz
Middle School were the first WISD projects done by SHW Group Architects,
Inc., the firm designing the current WHS expansion. The FSE and SMS
projects were both delivered on time and under budget.
- What happened
to the bond money that was not used in the construction of Fields Store
Elementary and the expansion of Schultz Middle School?
The left-over funds (approximately $600,000) were returned to the
taxpayer in the form of a two-cent reduction of the district's 2003 tax
rate.
- When would
construction on the WHS expansion begin?
Mid to late summer. Selling the bonds,
completing the drawings, and bidding on the project have to be done before
construction can begin. Construction is projected to take 18
months. (All projects are estimated to be completed by the time classes
resume after Christmas 2005.) However, some projects - such as the
academic additions and others - may be completed within the first 12
months.
- When would the
expanded WHS reach its capacity? The current plans are for an
expansion of WHS to accommodate 2,200 students. According to Population
and Survey Analysts (PASA), 9th - 12th grade enrollment at Waller ISD
will reach 2,185 students in the year 2011, then 2,315 high school
students are projected for the year 2012.
