Waller ISD Superintendent Richard McReavy Announces Retirement

Tears welled
in the eyes of numerous people as Richard McReavy, Waller ISD
Superintendent, announced with mixed emotions that he plans to retire in
June, 2010, after serving 40 years in education. McReavy made the
announcement at the December regularly called Board Meeting. He
said, “I have the best job in the world. It is the most
challenging job I have ever had and the most rewarding. I have an
outstanding Board, excellent Principals and Directors, and Assistant
Superintendents, with great teachers and staff, fantastic students, and
tremendous community support. Now is the time for a transition for
Waller ISD.”

Santa Claus and Transportation Director, Brad Cloud, helped load up
boxes full of toys, food, and a Christmas tree into a Waller ISD school
bus. The holiday items were collected by the Waller High School Student
Council and the Waller ISD Transportation Department to help brighten
the holiday spirit for a family in need.

Santa
Claus stopped by Turlington Elementary to take pictures
with all students in Pre-K through 2nd grade,
and several in 3rd through 5th
grades. Santa always tries to stop by the Waller ISD
elementary schools right before the holiday to briefly visit
with the young students.

Congratulations to the Waller High School FFA
students who placed in the top ten in all events
at the District IV Leadership Development Events
on November 16. One team, the Agricultural
Radio Team, placed 1st at District
and 7th at Area, beating out 175
other teams at the Area Competition.

During the regular
meeting of the Waller ISD Board of Trustees held
December 14, the Board recognized Jeanine Slaughter to express their
appreciation for directing Waller ISD construction and renovation
management projects. Before coming to Waller ISD, Slaughter
work experience entailed government project management.

Blue Bell Creameries L.P. visited Waller Junior
High School to honor Michael Twigg, Region 4
Secondary Teacher of the Year and Waller ISD
Secondary Teacher of the Year.
Freddie Hugo and Tommy Lang, representatives
from Blue Bell Creameries, visited the school to hand out ice cream
treats to the students during their lunch period.
