Waller
ISD held District Site-Based Decision Making Committee Meeting Sept. 26
Waller ISD held a District Site-Based
Decision Making Committee (DSBDMC) meeting Wednesday, Sept. 26 in the
Administration Building Board Room. Approximately 65 people were in
attendance to discuss Waller ISD interests.
Waller ISD Assistant Superintendent, Danny Twardowski, welcomed to
group and introduced Waller ISD Superintendent, Richard McReavy, who briefly
spoke about the accomplishments of all WISD campuses.
The meeting was then directed by Danny Twardowski and Waller ISD
Director of Curriculum and Instruction Joy Kanyo. All WISD campus principals
presented highlights of their proposed campus improvement plans that will be
presented in full during the Oct. 8 Regular Board Meeting. Joy Kanyo briefly
discussed the proposed District Improvement Plan which will also be
presented in full at the Oct. Board Meeting.
Danny Twardowski reviewed the new Student Safety Program implemented in
fall 2006. The program helps educate students on various safety issues such
as school bus safety, internet safety, and dating violence. He then reviewed
the Waller ISD 2007-2008 Budget Highlights which can be viewed at http://www.wallerisd.net/business/default.htm.
Texas Senate Bill 1, passed in May 1995, established District
Site-Based Decision Making Committees to give support and direction to
Campus Site-Based Decision Making Committees and to serve as a central
gathering and evaluation point for information coming from those campus
committees.
The DSBDMC offers more participation opportunities for parents and
community members. It meets three to four times a year and all meetings are
open to the public. Parents and community members are encouraged to
participate. If you would like to be a part of this important district
committee, contact Danny Twardowski at 936.931.3685 or any campus principal. |
