Waller ISD Board recognizes WHS summer graduates
The Waller ISD Board of Trustees
recognized several outstanding students during its regular meeting Sept.
11; they included WHS rodeo athletes who participated in state and
national competitions over the summer and summer 2006 graduates. The
rodeo athletes recognized were: Cory Soloman, Bradley Bonds, Jake
McCauley, Jake Toman, and Tyler Rutledge. The summer 2006 graduates
given special recognition were: Amanda Heine, Travis Rosevear, Sean
Ross, Courniesha Sims, Timothy Monk, Robert Paul, and Jennifer
Villareal.
In action items, the Board nominated Trustee Shaun Nelson to be a
representative for the Houston-Galveston Area Council, and adopted
Update 78 which encompasses recent changes in law affecting public
education, and picks up key pieces from H.B. 1 that was passed in recent
special legislative session.
The Board heard information from SHW Group Project Manager Mark Lam
on SHW Bond Planning and from WISD Director of Curriculum and
Instruction Joy Kanyo on the Waller ISD GT Program.
Important dates noted were: Oct. 5 and 6 – Waller County Fair Days;
October 9 – Regular Board Meeting; and October 20 – Recognition of
elementary campuses at the Waller varsity versus Brenham football game
(7:30 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium). |
