SMS students send Holocaust survivor birthday wishes. While doing research on the Holocaust in Feb. fifth grade students in Mary Bennett’s reading class at Schultz Middle School stumbled upon information about Elly Berkovits, author of the book “Elly.” They students learned her birthday was on Valentine’s Day and even found her email address. They took it upon themselves to email her special Valentine’s birthday wishes and received a response from Berkovits thanking them for the gesture.
