WJH 7th Grade
Girls Track Wins District Championship
April 10, Waller Junior High’s
seventh grade girls track team won the district track championship after
completing in field and running events at Morehead Junior High. The Lady
Bulldogs dominated the meet bringing home the championship by 41 points.
Their victory included gold medal finishes in pole vault, triple jump, long
jump, 400 meter relay, 800 meter relay, 100 meter hurdles, and 100 meter
dash.
Leading the way for WJH was Taylor Walker who served as the anchor on
both the 400 and 800 meter relays. She also took first in the hundred meter
dash and long jump, and 5th in triple jump.
Taylor Thomas came took first in triple jump and the 100 meter hurdles.
She also ran the first leg of the 800 meter relay team and placed sixth the
long jump.
Morgan Heiss placed third in both the 400 meter dash and the high jump.
She also ran the second leg for 400 meter relay team.
Victoria Dauer took first in pole vault and Simo Narmah came in second
in the 100 meter dash and fifth in the 200 meter dash. Sam Warren ran in
both the 400 and 800 meter relays, and came in the third in the 200 meter
dash. Brianna Knowles also ran in both relays and placed fifth in the 100
meter dash.
Other athletes who contributed to the WJH Lady Bulldogs’ domination at
the meet wer Hannah Hogan who came in second in the discus; Amanda Leinveber
who placed third in pole vault and fifth in the 100 meter high hurdles;
Ashley Vogel who placed third in the 300 meter hurdles; and Sarah Arrington
who placed fourth in the 300 meter hurdles. |
