WISD Board holds April
regular meeting
During the regular meeting of the
Waller ISD Board of Trustees April 15, the Board recognized a number of
outstanding achievements including: WISD Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
Art Winners, Waller High School (WHS) boys and girls All-District basketball
and soccer honorees, the WHS boys soccer Bi-District Championship team, WHS
Business Professionals of America regional and state qualifiers, WHS winter
colorguard and indoor percussion accomplishments, and WHS UIL One-Act Play
honors.
In the regular agenda, the Board approved the Writ of Election for the
2008 Trustee Election and early voting clerks. They also approved Texas
Association of School Board Update 82 and a new student and finance system.
It was noted that all Board members met or exceeded their continuing
education requirements. WISD Assistant Superintendent for Administration
Danny Twardowski presented proposed changes to the 2008-2009 parent/student
handbook which will be reviewed by the Board and on the agenda for approval
in May. The Board asked for suggestions on how to name new facilities and
WISD Assistant Superintendent for Finance Mike Marcus briefly discussed a
proposal from Bank of Texas and catalog proposals.
Important dates noted were: April 28-May 6 – Early Voting, May 10 –
Election Day, May 12 – Regular Board meeting, May 29 – Last Day of School
(Early Release), and May 31 – Graduation. |
