SMS celebrates Black
History Month.
February was Black
History and at Schultz Middle School (SMS) and physical education coach
Ron Hill brought his collection of history for students to see and learn
from. In display cases at SMS, Hill exhibited only a portion of his
personal belongings and huge collection of black history memorabilia.
Figures such as Hank Aaron, Muhammad Ali, Maya Angelou, Louis Armstrong,
James Brown, Earl Campbell, Ray Charles, Bill Cosby, Ella Fitzgerald,
George Foreman, Aretha Franklin, Whoopi Goldberg, Cuba Gooding, Jr.,
Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Johnson, James Earl Jones, B.B. King, Coretta
Scott King, Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Thurgood Marshall,
Jackie Robinson, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, Harriet Tubman, Tina
Turner, Booker T. Washington, Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, and Stevie
Wonder are just a few of those notable in black history. SMS students
thoroughly enjoyed the display and the learning experience it provided.
SMS Principal Brian Merrell would like to thank Hill for his hard work
and dedication. (Pictured) Hill sits by the display he created at SMS.
