Waller ISD announces 2008 Spelling Bee Winners
Waller ISD’s Junior High and Fields Store, Jones, Holleman, and Roberts Road Elementary schools recently held their oral spelling bees for the Houston Chronicle Spelling Bee. The campus winners were Geena Hughes (8^th grade, Waller Junior High), Matt Riggs (3^rd grade, Fields Store), Emily Rivenbark (4^th grade, Holleman), Ebakoliane Obiomon (4^th grade, Jones), and Maggie Polllard (4^th grade, Roberts Road).
     Second place winners were Sarah Friedel (8^th grade, Waller Junior High), Wayne Dicus (4^th grade, Fields Store), Malik banks (4^th grade, Jones), Cody Morgan (3^rd grade, Holleman), and Nikolaus Lattanzi (4^th grade, Roberts Road).
     The spelling bees were coordinated by Pam Groschke (Waller Junior High), Jennifer Holladay (Holleman), Evelyn Turlington (Jones), Vickie Marberry (Roberts Road), and Kim Wedgman and Lynnelle Preuss (Fields Store).
     The campus winners competed in the Regional spelling bee in Bellville in February. Fields Store Elementary winner Matt Riggs stayed in the competition until there were just three remaining and Roberts Road Elementary School winner Maggie Pollard took second place in the contest from all kindergarten through eighth grade students. This was the second consecutive year Pollard has won Roberts Road’s spelling bee.
