Waller ISD holds
regular meeting Jan. 14
Governor Rick Perry has
proclaimed January School Board Recognition Month and Waller ISD (WISD)
is joining other districts across the state to gratefully acknowledge
local trustees’ unfailing commitment to our communities and schools.
Waller ISD’s Board of Trustees was honored during its regular meeting
Jan. 14. Each member received a gift bag presented by WISD campus
principals. Art work and posters, prepared by students district-wide to
thank the Board for their hard work, were also hung on the walls of the
Board Room for the Board to enjoy.
To kickoff the meeting, a midyear graduation ceremony was held for
10 Waller High School (WHS) students. Graduates Epiphany Lopez, Merissa
Hunnicutt, Edgar Morales, Pedro Chacon, William “Buddy Ratliff, Abigail
Ferguson, Ashleigh Horn, Arturo Perez, Keith Jones, and Brandon Thompson
received their diplomas from WHS Principal Kelly Baehren and WHS
Assistant Principal for Instruction Kenneth Epting and were certified
graduates by the Board.
The Board recognized volunteers Bill and Marsha Jordan for
volunteer work they have done for Waller ISD; WHS freshman Emily Wood
for placing fourth out of 595 at State FFA Greenhand Creed Speaking
Competition; WHS band students Jason Kaminski, Luis Flores, Elspeth
Bacher, Lauren Forester, Frank Scott, and Randallyn Kelso for advancing
to Area auditions; and the WHS varsity football team for their 2007
season accomplishments.
In regular agenda items a new lawn service agreement was approved
6-0 (Trustee Carvell was absent) and WISD Superintendent Richard
McReavy’s evaluation and contract renewal was approved 6-0.
Waller ISD’s architectural firm, SHW Group (SHW), presented planning
information on new stadium and elementary school number five design and
detention. David Klein and his team from Klein Equities, introduced by
Waller Economic Development Corporation Director John Isom, presented
information on prospective Waller Town Center commercial development.
Important dates noted were: Jan. 21 – Martin Luther King Holiday
(no school), Feb. 11 – Regular Board Meeting, Mar. 10 – Regular Board
Meeting, and Mar. 21-28 – Spring Break (no school). |
