Waller ISD District-Site Based Decision Making Committee
First School Year Meeting
Waller
ISD held a District-Site Based Decision Making Committee
Meeting on Wednesday, September 9th, in the Waller ISD
Administration Building. Richard McReavy, Waller ISD
Superintendent, started off the meeting by giving a warm
welcome and district highlights. McReavy discussed how
Waller ISD had its best academic achievement school year
in 2008-2009 school year. McReavy provided a bond
construction overview and discussed the highlights of
the largest event in Waller ISD’s history, the Stadium
Grand Opening. McReavy also presented the 2009-2010
Waller ISD Budget Highlights and emphasized the
appreciation of the faculty, staff, and administrators.
He said, “We only hire the best of people to work with
our students.”
Danny
Twardowski, Asst. Superintendent for Administration,
discussed the purpose and importance of the committee
meeting. The committee, who involves parents,
employees, and community members, helps drive the
decisions of the school district.
Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Joy Kanyo,
presented and requested approval for the allocation and
spending for the Waller ISD Title Program from the
committee. Kanyo also asked for support to apply for a
Safe Route to School Grant. The grant will fund
sidewalks for Waller Junior High and I.T. Holleman
Elementary to assist the 175 walkers who live within the
2 mile radius to travel to and from their school. The
two campuses qualify for the grant since they are
located within the City of Waller City Limits.
Closing the meeting, each school Principal presented a
brief Campus Improvement Summary for the 2009-2010
school year. The eight principals discussed the
strengths of their school, areas for improvement, and
student learning needs.
