Waller ISD Board Recognizes Past Board Members
During a
regular meeting of the Waller ISD Board of Trustees held
June 8, the Board recognized 9 retirees: Sharon Fox, Janet
Heine, Janice Jackson, Pauline Kehlenbeck, Florine Muse,
Nancy Seheult, Lynn Slaid, Janis Solsbery, and Israel Tamez.
Each retiree was presented with Seiko wall clock. These 9
represent a combined 227 years of service to public
education in Texas, 159 of those years dedicated solely to
Waller ISD.
Richard
McReavy recognized two past board members, Robert Carvell
and Robert “Bo” Pierce. McReavy expressed his gratitude on
behalf of Waller ISD by thanking Carvell and Pierce for
their tremendous dedication. Each board member makes a
personal commitment to serve on the school board by
sacrificing numerous hours of their personal time. During a
portion of his nine years as a Board Member, Robert Carvell
served as Board President, Vice President and Secretary. He
is an active volunteer at cooking events and fundraisers for
the benefit of Waller ISD schools. Bo Pierce served on the
school board for a total of six years. During that time he
helped establish the Metal Trades Program at Waller High
School and founded the Dual Credit Scholarship Program.
Pierce is known for always stepping forward to help
students. McReavy said, “we are blessed with board members
that have done more things to help our students and support
our schools”.
Carvell
and Pierce expressed their appreciation for the remarkable
experiences while serving on the school board. Both board
members were assets to the school board by serving the
Waller ISD community, students, and staff with their hearts
always leading the way. Each board member will be greatly
missed by the entire Waller ISD community. Carvell and
Pierce were presented with a plaque, a framed copy of the
Texas pledge, and a small bulldog as a keepsake. Each
current school board member expressed individual well wishes
to Carvell and Pierce.
The Board
also recognized Waller High School All-District softball,
baseball, and track honorees. The varsity baseball team was
recognized for advancing to the State playoffs.
Furthermore, McReavy recognized the campus principals by
announcing the Waller ISD Preliminary TEA Results of
unofficial campus and district ratings. Waller ISD’s goal
is to become a recognized school district. Each year the
school district advances closer to its goal.
The
consent agenda items consisted of resignations, employment,
leaves of absence, staff transfers, disbursements, budget
change requests, tax refunds, April and May board meeting
