Development Always Centers Around Students Welfare.
WALLER ISD- All
WISD PreK- 12 grade teachers and instructional paraprofessionals
attended a two day staff development conference on August 19 and 20 at
WHS. 19 Workshop topics and 111 sessions were offered lasting 1.5 - 3
hours each session. Sessions offered included Bilingual Balanced
Literacy, Breaking Poverty Barriers, Capturing Kids Hearts, Dating
Violence, De-Escalating Violent Acts, Developmental Reading Assessment
Training, Drug and Drug Paraphernalia Awareness, Effectively Using
Student Journals in the Science Classroom, ESL/ELL Characteristics and
Approaches, Gang Awareness, Making Connections by Building Strong
Student-Teacher Relationships, Margaret Kilgo’s Instruction and Scope
and Sequence Analysis for ELS, Reading, Mathematics and Science,
Mastering Basic Access to District TAKS Assessment/Performance Data
System, Multisensory Grammar, SIOP Refresher Training, Successful
Writing Strategies and Activities for Elementary ELLs, and Understanding
the Dual Language Program.
