Waller ISD Holds District Site Based Decision Making
Committee Meeting
WISD- Waller ISD held its District Site Based
Decision Making Committee Meeting on Thursday,
January 22. Richard McReavy, Waller ISD
Superintendent, opened up the meeting welcoming
parents, community members, and staff. McReavy gave
an update on the new elementary, new stadium, the
middle school and junior high renovations bond
construction progress reports. He discussed the
transition planning process that the school district
is currently undertaking to get ready for the grade
level realignment in the Fall. McReavy also
discussed the possible impacts that the elementary
and State legislation will have on the 2009-2010
Waller ISD Budget.
Joy Kanyo, Curriculum and Instruction
Director, and Danny Twardowski, Asst. Superintendent
for Administration, gave the district and school
report cards overview. The information is available
on-line and was mailed home to all students the week
of January 12th. McReavy stated to the
attendees that Waller ISD goal is to become a TEA
“Recognized” school district next year. Academic
progress trends and charts can be obtained from Joy
Kanyo.
The Waller ISD 2009-2010 Calendar voting is
underway. Twardowski explained the process for
planning next year’s school district calendar.
Academic and teacher contract restrictions involved
in the calendar planning process were discussed. An
on-line calendar survey is posted until Jan. 30th
that contains a series of questions that requests
your school holiday preferences. The survey data
will be collected and used to create the Waller ISD
2009-2010 School Calendar. The results will be
presented at the next District Site Based Decision
Making Committee Meeting on February 4. For more
