WISD Board Meets in February Regular Called
Meeting
WALLER ISD – During the regular meeting of
the Waller ISD Board of Trustees held
February 9, the Board meeting recognitions
opened up with Waller ISD Houston Livestock
Show and Rodeo Art results. Waller High
School Principal, Kelly Baehren, and Art
Teacher, Lea Kohn, introduced Elementary and
Jr. High Art Teachers, Jody Sheffield and
Mark Hutchins. Each of the Best of Show and
Gold Medal Winners were recognized by the
school board for their winning artwork.
Furthermore, A trio of Waller ISD employees,
District Science Coordinator, Sharon Wilder,
4th grade Fields Store Elementary
School Teacher, Kathy Eckermann, and Fields
Store Elementary School Technologist, Stacey
Huffine, were recognized for being awarded
an Exxon Mobil Corp. Grant. The grant funds
will be used to hold a science workshop that
will benefit Waller ISD and Greater Houston
Area teachers. The final school board
recognition in the meeting honored Waller
High School football players that received
All-District 4A honors. Athletic Director,
Jason Morley, introduced each student and
their achievement to the school board
members.
After the recognitions, the Consent Agenda
was presented. Consideration of Network
Upgrades for Waller ISD Campuses and
consideration of Brooks and Sparks, Inc. of
Katy to construct a new water supply
facility at the new Turlington Elementary
was voted unanimously and passed as
presented. In Regular Agenda, the
2009-2010 Waller ISD School Calendar was
presented by Asst. Superintendent for
Administration, Danny Twardowski. The
calendar was Board Approved at the School
Board Meeting and is posted at
www.wallerisd.net. Other Regular Agenda
items included the Calling of the May 9,
2009 Trustee Election by President, Robert
“Bo” Pierce. President Pierce read in detail
the Order of Election to the meeting
attendees. The Calling for the May 9, 2009
Trustee Election was voted unanimously by
the Waller ISD School Board of Trustees.
Consideration of Administrators Contracts
and Resolution of Support for Lone Star
College were also presented and passed with
unanimous vote.
In Information Items, A Bond Construction
Update Report was presented by Sam Savage,
SHW Group. All three of the main bond
construction projects are progressing
on-time as planned.
