WISD Board Meets in October Regular

WALLER ISD – During the regular meeting
of the Waller ISD Board of Trustees held
October 13, the Board recognized Waller
High School 9th Grade
Student, Kaylon White, by congratulating
her on her AIM-5 National Math
Competition win. Kaylon won 1st
place competing against 60 national
competitors. Kaylon received a letter
from Congressman McCaul congratulating
her on her win. Maximiliano (Max)
Corral, WHS Senior, was also recognized
for being selected as a National Merit
Scholarship Program Semifinalist; he is
one of the 16,000 semifinalists. WHS
Yearbook committee was also recognized
for their colorful yearbook
masterpiece. The students distributed
out copies to the board.
The consent agenda items
consisted of resignations, employment,
leaves of absence, disbursements, budget
change requests, tax refunds, minutes of
previous months meeting, and staffing
requests. The motion carried
unanimously as presented.
Consideration of the Houston-Galveston
Area Council 2009 General Assembly
Representatives was discussed. Board
Member, Louis Tucker, was nominated and
Shaun Nelson was selected as an
alternate.
In information items, the Board heard a
Waller ISD Progress Review from Sam
Savage and Dwayne Trahan with SHW
Group. WISD Asst. Superintendent for
Business and Finance, Mike Marcus,
presented a Waller ISD Investment Report
to the Board. Campus Improvement Plans
presentations were given by each school
principal. Each school principal
discussed their campus strengths, areas
in need of improvement, and strategies
for improvement. Richard McReavy,
Waller ISD Superintendent, announced
that all Waller ISD campuses met AYP. A
“Recognized” Campus Celebration will be
held during half time at the October 17
Varsity Football Game.
