Former Waller Standout Impresses at NFL Combine
WISD Public Information
Jason
Phillips, son of Jim and Diane Phillips, and former Waller
High School standout impressed NFL scouts at the annual NFL
scouting combine held in Indianapolis, Indiana. The annual
scouting combine is by invitation only and puts players
through a series of drills, mental tests and interviews in
front of roughly 600 NFL personnel including head coaches,
general managers, assistant coaches, and scouts. Phillips,
a 2004 graduate of Waller and a former 4-year starter at
linebacker for TCU, led his inside linebacker group in three
workouts: the 40 yard dash, the standing broad jump, and the
20 yard shuttle run. Jason also had solid showings in the
other workouts which include the bench press, vertical jump,
3-cone drill, and 60 yard shuttle run. Congratulations to
Jason and his family as he continues his quest of joining
the National Football League.
