Former Waller High School Bulldogs Land
in N.F.L.
Former Waller High School Bulldogs,
Jason Phillips and Jeremy Haynes, both
class of 2004, have joined the elite
ranks of the National Football League.
Phillips, former Bulldog quarterback and
TCU linebacker, was selected by the
Baltimore Ravens in the 5th
round. Haynes, former Bulldog receiver
and defensive back, signed a free agent
deal with the Tennessee Titans after a
successful career as a defensive back at
McNeese State.
Phillips is currently recovering from an
off-season knee operation and is
expected to be ready to go for training
camp. He was excited to join the
Ravens. The Ravens, likewise, seem to
be just as excited. According to
NFL.com, “The
Ravens pick up a highly productive
linebacker to add to their already-stout
corps. The former Horned Frog has good
instincts and shows a natural knack for
finding the football. He won't be
counted on to contribute as an
every-down player immediately, but he
could emerge as a future starter in a
year or two.” Haynes is considered a
bigger than average cornerback who is
expected to contribute on special
teams. Both players have already
finished their first mini-camp with
their respective teams.
