WHS Varsity Bulldogs Win Bi-District
Football Playoff Game
The Waller High School Bulldogs
won their 5th
consecutive football game Friday night by
defeating the Lockhart Lions 28-7. Waller will
play Dayton in
the
Area round of the
playoffs on November 21st.
Defensively, the Bulldogs held Lockhart to
219 yards. All week the coaches were concerned
about Lockhart’s running back, Dominique
Hardaway. After getting off to a slow start in
the first half, the Dogs contained
Hardaway to 92 total
yards in the
game. Keith White led the way with multiple
tackles, a quarterback sack, and an
interception. Jordan Hamilton and Jacobie White
had outstanding performances in the interior of
the defense. Darius Nash, Jordan Ondijo, Trent
Rape, and Jordan Gooden
put pressure on the
quarterback and clogged Lion running lanes,
raising their level of play in the 2nd
half. David
McDade and BJ Kwiatkowski had solid performances
at linebacker as well, making tackles from
sideline to sideline. Matthew Pierce, Kalyn Utz,
Jonathon White, Jyrin Broussard, Miller Pierce,
Christ Tompkins, and Chad Madden played very
well in the secondary.
White and Utz were
very close to interceptions on stop routes.
Miller Pierce made several great plays on speed
option when he was one on one with Hardaway.
Chad Madden had some very tight coverages in man
to man coverage that stalled Lion drives.
Offensively, the front line of Glen
Hill, Sean Mangum,
Jason Lafferty, Alex McFaddin and Matt Leviner
paved the way for the Dogs to roll up 358 total
yards. Glen Gilliam had 101 yards on 17 carries
and 4 touchdowns. Miller
Pierce had 17
carries for 118 yards. Chris Carroll had 7
carries for 34 yards. Christ Tompkins had a
huge 3rd
down catch for a big gain to keep the 2nd
scoring drive alive. Greg Allen had two key
receptions in the 4th
quarter on 3rd
down to keep Bulldog drives alive. Austin
Tilton had a good game at tight end springing
Bulldog running backs for big gains.
Special teams were highlighted by BJ
Kwiatkowski and David McDade. Both broke long
runs in the return game. The Bulldogs forced
three punts, and did not have to punt themselves
all night. Will Garcia was a perfect 4 for 4 on
extra points, and Matthew
Pierce did an
outstanding job holding the snaps.
The Bulldogs will play Dayton
on Saturday, November 21st.
The Bulldogs would love to see a capacity crowd
next weekend as they try to continue their
season. Come support the Bulldogs!
