 Football and Instilling Leadership

1)  In-season and off-season leadership classes with guest speakers

2)  Consequences for misbehavior; rewards for exhibiting leadership in school

3)      Leadership Council – made up of 4 seniors, three juniors, two sophomores, and one freshman.  Student athletes are elected by peers.  Work to exhibit leadership in academics, athletics, and personal endeavors around school.  Weekly meetings with Coach Morley to discuss team and outside issues.

1) Varsity – 5th place in district 18-4A, 4-6 overall

2) JV – District Champions, 7-3 overall

3) 9th – 4th place in district 18-4A,   3-7 overall

4) 8th Grade A – 5-2 Overall

5) 8th Grade B – 6-0-1 Overall

6) 7th Grade A – 2-4 overall

7) 7th Grade B – 2-4 overall

 

Football and Academics

1)      Monday’s are mandatory tutorial days year round

2)    Other days can be arranged based on advance notice during the season

3)    Monday – Thursday tutorials in off-season

4)    Grade checks twice weekly

5)    Weekly consequences for failing grades

6)    Multiple presentations about GPA, scholarship opportunities, SAT/ACT registration, and NCAA clearinghouse registration y Academic Coordinator (Coach Devous)

7)    Awards for academic all-district and academic all-state

Scholarship Opportunities

1)      2003-2004 – seven full scholarships

2)      2004-2005 – two full scholarships; five partial scholarships

3)      2005-2006 – one full scholarship; three partial scholarships

4)      2006-2007 – one full scholarship; two partial scholarships

5)      2007-2008 – six full scholarships; eight partial scholarships

Goals of the Program

1)      Win with class and integrity

2)      Make academics the number one priority with 100% of athletes on the A/B honor roll

3)      100% of varsity athletes on the academic all-district and/or academic all-state teams

4)      Develop leadership skills as a way of life

5)      Teach life lessons through athletics
