1980 - 1982 Bachelor of Science degree, Reading specialization, Texas A & M University
1985 - Post graduate work at the University of Houston, Reading
2002 - Extensive training in the area of Gifted and Talented education.

Teaching Experiences
1982 - 1983 Magnolia Junior High.- Reading Enrichment, 6^th grade English, 7^th grade Reading, and Zig Ziglar’s “I Can” course, high school twirling sponsor.
1983 - 1989 Remedial Reading (Title I)
1989 - 1994 Volunteer at Salem Lutheran Early Childhood School, PTO and library volunteer at Roberts Road Elementary. Private reading tutor.
1994 - 1998  4^th grade teacher at Roberts Road Elementary
1998 - 2002 4^th grade teacher at Jones Intermediate School.  Gifted and Talented teacher/coordinator.
2002 - Present Waller Junior High – 7^th grade Reading and Texas History.

In addition to these teaching experiences, I worked two summers as a day camp art teacher at a Montessori school and have been registered with the Boy Scouts of America for the last 8 years as an active den and troop leader.

Hobbies and Interests
I enjoy rejoicing in the simple things: camping with my family and friends, reading, learning at least one brand new thing a year, playing the guitar and writing songs, doing the “Martha Stewart thing” (sometimes), being outdoors, taking road trips, visiting historical places, dancing, genealogy, decorating, amateur botanical study, holidays, and being a mom, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, and teacher.

Favorite Dish
As a vegetarian for the last 28 years, I enjoy finding ANY dish that does not contain meat.  My favorite food is my mom’s homemade cranberry nut bread. I’ve never been known to turn down any meatless Mexican food dish.
