• Freshmen never received lower than second place at a track meet
• Michael Blaylock set a school record in the 1600m run 4:34:37
• Three athletes competed in the regional track meet - Zach Robinson/400m dash, Michael Blaylock/800m and 1600m, Jonathan Randle/High Jump

Scholarship Opportunities

• Track scholarships are hard to come by. Usually major universities only have 12-14 scholarships to offer. Smaller universities have less. Some scholarships have been offered but for various reasons none were taken by students
• We are here to help other sports:
• 2004 - Six track athletes received scholarships in other sports
• 2003 - Three athletes signed scholarships in other sports
• 2002 - Two athletes signed scholarships in other sports

• We instill leadership by example. Each member of the team is expected to work hard at practice and set examples to carry forward to track meets.
• Our kids are known in the community as GREAT COMPETITORS. That reputation carries over on and off the field.

• Student/athletes attend tutoring as needed

• Grades and positive attitudes are stressed constantly

• Teachers of track athletes can come to coaches for any reason. This creates a positive atmosphere between coaches, athletes and teachers.

• Folders are used to check academics and attitude

• WIN - as in all athletics we want to compete at the highest level and will continue to do so

• Help other sports - Track consists of running fast, jumping high and far and team work, so all sports benefit

• Increase the amount of participation of our athletes by keeping them informed of the benefit of the sport and by trying to get a track built at the High School

• Continue to represent Waller High School in the public arena such as at the Regional Track meet and State Track meet
